jbs vario R is an inexpensive yet uncomplicated solution to apply biological silage additives using a higher amount of water and applying the additives in a wide mist without being limited to using a certain product only. It enables you to choose variable flow rates between 8 and 32 l/h. Flow rate can be regulated using the blind caps (2 included in delivery scope); using bigger nozzles is also possible.

Due to its price and easy handling, larger motor pools may be equipped, or several vehicles may be set up with tanks in advance, thus enabling you to install jbs vario R to one of the vehicles according to need within a short period of time.

Usage instructions

The nozzle bar may optionally be equipped with up to 4 nozzles (metal nozzle 4 - 8 l/h). The delivery scope includes 2 blind caps which enable you to close the valve connection in order to obtain an optimum spray pattern (bigger nozzles available on request).

An integrated non-return valve keeps the applicator from dripping. When operating the pump for the first time, open the non-return valve for airing until some of the solution is dripping from the valve and no more bubbles remain in the hose.

In order to avoid conglutination of the parts from silage additive residues or in order to dissolve possible blockages of the nozzles after a longer period of non-use, we recommend running the applicator with clean water after each use.

The flow meter comes with a display range of between 10 - 100 l/h. If possible, use clips to fix flow meter at the hose in uninterrupted sight of driver. In any case, the flow meter needs to be installed vertically (upright).

Combined with the electronic control unit it guarantees an exact applicability at all times. As the flow meter is calibrated with water we recommend calibrating the applicator once more after the installation in order to be able to adjust the application if necessary.

All parts are to be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis!

The electronic control unit is installed in the chopper’s cabin, thus enabling the driver to control pump performance variably by using the control dial. Connect the unit to the chopper’s 12-V-on-board electronic system (see sketch below).

Voltages above 12 V may damage the unit!

The unit is protected by a fuse. Do mind the correct polarity when connecting the unit, otherwise, the unit will be damaged.

The bag filter ensures blockage-free operation of flow meter and nozzles. It should regularly be opened for cleaning (rinse with cold water).

The 12-Volt-immersion pump is to be connected to the electronic control unit. The pump has a forced ventilation and cannot run dry - however, if possible, do not let it run without liquid for more than 10 - 15 min. The jet of water dripping out next to the hose connection on top of the pump removes air from the pump. As mechanical force may break the hose-vent connection, it should be handled with care.

When using a large tank, make sure the pump reaches the bottom of the tank. Do not apply tensile strain to the power cable connected to the pump as otherwise, the sealing gasket between pump and motor may be pulled out thus enabling water to penetrate the motor.

On installation, mind the correct polarity of the cables, as otherwise, the pump will not draw in the silage additive.

Any clean container may be used as a tank. We recommend using jerrycans (approx. 25 litre).

Do not remove the cable loop if pick-up switch is not connected!
